14 days into my run every day until the end of August challenge – weekly check in

by

Alrighty! A second week down for my run every day until the end of August challenge – and I am still going and going fairly strongly at this point as well.

A total of 25.5 miles over the past 7 days with the longest run being 7 miles, three runs of 4 miles, one run of 3.5 miles and two “rest” days of 2 miles and 1 mile. This gives me 3 miles more this week than last which is a solid improvement.

I did want to do an even longer run this weekend and I suppose I should have extended the 7 mile run on Saturday night but figured I would get up and do a longer run on Sunday instead….that didn’t work out the way I planned unfortunately. I forgot how much these longer runs need better time organization, I need to work on that to make sure I am giving myself time to do these runs and at least removing that excuse from the list!

I am feeling pretty good overall, I am still motivated to run and my legs have gotten tired this week but nothing out of ordinary. I do still occasionally get some issues with my left ankle but nothing like what it has been like over the past several months – so far it appears that working the ankle consistently is make a huge difference, at least so far.

My weight hasn’t really moved yet too obviously yet but as I get into doing longer runs that should change.

As of today it is 7 weeks until the race I hope to use for corral placement for the Dopey Challenge and at this point I really don’t know what kind of shape I will be in for the race. The plan is to get my weight down a fair bit in those 7 weeks and continue to train consistently as I have been doing for the past couple weeks and get a decent time. At least relative to where I am right now – I don’t hold any illusions that in 7 weeks I can undo months or years worth of damage to my running abilities but I can make solid improvements and that is the goal.

I will be taking some summer vacation soon and the plan is to really use that time to make sure I get in a couple of true longer runs to remind myself that I can…and if I can’t run long anymore? Well, that is something I need to know so I can fix it!

Other than that there isn’t much more to say this week – so have a good week and good luck to everyone out there training!
