#trainingrun – 4.14 miles in 30 minutes at 1% incline – pushed hard – felt good – body wanted to keep going

by

Just 2 more training runs before the WFPS (Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services) Half Marathon on October 19th.  I pushed hard and it felt good.

I believe I could have gotten in more miles in the 30 minutes I allowed myself on the treadmill tonight but the breaker on the treadmill tripped out at 2.24 miles with 15:40 on the clock.  After I reset the breaker I took it a bit easier and did 1.9 miles in 14:20 to finish off the half hour.

The first chunk was done with 1.5 minutes at 10 mph to start then 30 seconds at 7 mph followed by 2 minutes at 9 mph and a minute at 7. And then continued to follow a similar pattern until the breaker tripped while I was going 10 mph – that’s an experience that can make your heart skip a beat…all things considered not something you want to happen when you are going that fast.

Second chunk was done at 8 mph with 2 individual minutes at 7 mph and I finished with 30 seconds at 8.5 and 20 seconds at 9.  I could have gone faster but didn’t want the treadmill to trip again.

So all told I figure approx 5 minutes total at 10 mph, 7-8 at 9 mph, 5ish minutes at 7 and around 12 minutes at 8 mph.  All around a pretty solid run and my legs felt really good and I could have kept going.  Nice.

Weight was up a bit this morning (219) but I probably snacked way too much yesterday and had some snacks later in the evening that will have contributed there.  I was also 219 after the run this evening but had a relatively large supper tonight as well so I think that will settle out a little by tomorrow.
