#trainingrun – 9 miles outside in 1:22:16 – cold, wet and windy – yay fall!

by

Woke up with the wind howling outside this morning – we had our bedroom window open a crack and the cold breeze coming in was not pleasant.  It really did not help my motivation to get out of bed and get rolling!

The temperature wasn’t as cold as the wind made it seem once I got outside but it still definitely contributed to my mindset when I started.  I really wasn’t focused or into the run today and I just wanted it to be over.  I had only 1 lap (4.5 miles) scheduled but my body felt good so I figured to fight the mindset I was in I had to do a second lap.  My mind fought me the whole way until I got about a half mile into the second lap and then it settle in and my mood and focus improved.  I’m glad I did the second lap in the end even though it was not particularly pleasant outside.  It felt good to push through the attitude and get the miles in!

9 miles in 1:22:16 is definitely not my fastest training run at that distance but considering the weather and my mindset it isn’t too horrible.

Weight jumped from 216.5 yesterday to 219 today – not sure what that was – I had a couple mini-donuts last night as a treat and we had a quick fast food burger for supper after the kids’ swimming was over.  Those both probably contributed to the weight bump but it is a bit of a larger bump than I would have expected since everything else I ate yesterday was inline with my normal diet and I certainly wasn’t way over calorie or anything like that.  I suspect things will settle out quickly but I will have to keep a close eye on that.
