230 when I woke up – 227 after 13.1 mile run on the treadmill

The run was pretty rough – 2:01:08 for the 13.1 – doesn’t sound too horrible but I did 6.7 in the first hour and fell apart in the second.  I had no fuel in the tank and it took everything I had just to finish.

I only had protein shakes for breakfast and nothing solid so I think that had something to do with it.  I also didn’t have any snacks or anything to munch on during the run – if I had run it outside I probably would have brought something to snack on and been better.

So I learned a few things – the protein shake double up seems to be helping with the weight loss as is the “no Coke” rule but when I am doing the longer runs fuel is key.  So I will have to make sure I have some carbs on the mornings of the long runs and have some snacks along as well.  Depending on how that goes I may also allow myself some Coke on the long run days (prior and possibly during the run).

I also missed having a coffee before the long run – need to remember to do that.
