231 this morning and 231.5 after 5 mile run in the evening

Run was 5 miles in 41:30 – 3 minutes of walking remainder at 7.5 mph.  Was a very solid run and it was surprisingly faster than I had thought.  I had planned a slower run as I hadn’t really had many runs since the WPS Half so I didn’t expect much – I figured things would be feeling pretty tight but all in all things were feeling pretty good.

This was only the second run since the WPS Half – I did a 10 miler on Saturday May 11th on the treadmill in 86:30.  There were approx. 11 minutes of walking and remainder at 7.2 or 7.5 mph.

I missed a 20 mile run on Sunday as it was Mother’s Day stuff with the family and then a bunch of yard work at H’s mother’s place and then in our own yard to get prepped for the pool that should be started in a couple weeks.

We also had a bunch of stuff going on last week that chewed up evening free time so I didn’t get enough time to do the weekday runs.

So basically I have now missed 2 of the 3 planned 20 miles runs and I will need to make up at least one of those somehow.  This means that this week I will be bumping the miles listed in the plan up – if all goes well I would like to do 2 back to back weeks with a total of 50 miles per week.  If I am struggling I can back off some of the miles but I will need to do 20 milers on back to back Sundays and then I should be able to head into the slow down period before the Manitoba Marathon with confidence.

My weight has been relatively static at around 230 pounds even without any real running so that tells me if I can get my runs in over the next few weeks I should be able to get my weight moving downward.
