234 when I woke up this morning – 235 after 3 mile run this evening.  Was 232.5 yesterday morning.

The run felt good – I tried a bit of speed to see what I could do and things were not bad – did the 3 mile run in 25:45 with only 1 min walk at the beginning and several minutes at 6.6 and 7 mph.  Also did some time at 8, 8.5 and 9 mph and used 6.2 mph as my rest speed.

There is only one training run I have left before the Goofy – a 4 miler tomorrow – I will try to get it done earlier in the day as the Wife and I begin the journey to Disney World very early Thursday morning.  So I don’t want to have too high a heart rate keeping me awake when I get to bed tomorrow night.

My weight did a good surprising drop compared to last week – I will have to see where tomorrow sits but it looks like roughly 2 pounds lower this week on equivalent days of the week.  Should mean I am in the right range heading into the Goofy – or at least near where I had planned.  Besides some fluctuation and leveling off around the holidays it looks like the plan I was going with worked – I was able to maintain a regular weight loss path while still being fueled to push hard on the training runs.  I will do a more thorough analysis later when I assess things after the event is over but so far I am pretty happy with the progress I made since September / October.  I believe I will run my best ever Disney races this year – I won’t hit my personal bests from 2002 in the half and 2005 in the full but I will be back at a level near where those times will be conceivable again with hard work.

I have reached an almost Zen state on the Goofy right now – it may be just that I am more focused on packing and getting work sorted out before I head out so I am not worrying as much but when I look back at the training miles I see that I put in more miles for this year’s event than I have for any of my 5 previous marathons (including my personal best).  I had a bigger hill to climb this year than my other years though so I don’t think the miles will translate into running faster than my personal best but what it should mean is that I run the races strong.  That alone will have made the training worthwhile.
