232 when woke up – 229.5 after 8 mile run

Run took 77:10 with about 5 minutes of walking – the majority of the run split between 6.2 and 6.6 mph.  Spent some time at 7 mph and a little 8 and 9 mph.  I definitely had endurance but my legs didn’t seem up to getting much speed in – I was able to push it near the end but had to take it easy at the beginning (which is probably good practice for next weekend).

Tried out a new pair of running shorts – they are of the compression type and they seemed to work pretty well – obviously they did not bunch up like the other running shorts have in the past couple weeks.  I will be giving them a go for the marathon.  They were surprisingly comfortable but don’t leave a lot of room for modesty.

Was going through the motions of collecting my stuff for the trip to the Goofy and in the process found a bunch of clothes in my closet from before I gained a bunch of weight (that I have now lost) that fit pretty well – I was thinking I was going to have to go buy a bunch of new clothes shortly but I have quite a bit of stuff now that should last me into the summer.  Whoohoo!

About the weight – the drop in weight is a nice surprise – it will a bit of dehydration from all the house cleaning yesterday but the added activity through the day will have helped as well.  Both the day’s starting weight and the after run weight are new lows for the training period.  I did get down to 230.5 once after a 20 mile run (on Dec 23rd) but the 229.5 is significant.  Getting under 230 for the first time since 2006 is psychologically huge.  I will have to see where things are tomorrow morning but it feels good to hit both these numbers.  232 represents 25 pound drop since September which is awesome as it is but it also means I hopefully won’t have to worry too much about my weight creeping up heading into the marathon weekend.
