233 Friday morning when woke up – obviously a bit dehydrated from the later run the night before

235 Saturday morning when woke up – not bad considering I had a couple drinks with friends last night and my diet yesterday wasn’t the best.  Was off work and did some running around so didn’t eat on a normal schedule.

232.5 after a 10 mile run on the treadmill – took 94.5 minutes for an average of 6.3 mph.  I did 6.15 miles in the first hour – did 1 minute at 4 mph walk and then remainder at an easy 6.2 mph – no cheating and no breaks.  The remaining 34.5 minutes I did 1 minute of 4 mph and the rest I alternated 6.2mph and 7.2mph every 2.5 minutes.  The first hour things felt really good so I will be trying something along that line for speed tomorrow morning for the 20 mile run.  Still had energy and breath after was done.  Definitely a very encouraging run – if the 6.2 mph could be maintained for the half marathon distance I would hit the goal of 2 hrs 10 minutes.  I will see what happens with that speed tomorrow over the half distance.

Got a new laptop yesterday – it has a larger keyboard than the netbook I was using when I was doing my typing in the living room – the laptop will offer me the ability to do a bunch of the site stuff while in the living room with the family and still work relatively efficiently.  The machine is powerful enough to let me do photo editing, etc so it should also be good for taking on the road and blogging while on vacation and while at the Goofy event.

My main criteria was that it needed to be small and light enough that it would fit into my existing camera backpack and have a full size keyboard that would be easy to type on (I am strangely particular about the feel of my keyboard – I can type relatively quickly and the feel of the keyboard can really slow me down or screw up my typing – this was one of the main reasons doing the typing on my tablet wasn’t really going to work for me either – I have a bluetooth keyboard for it that is pretty good but the lack of a mouse for going back to edit for missed words or to change the wording breaks the flow of what I am typing and can be very frustrating to me personally).  In the end I got something relatively inexpensive which has a 14” screen and is very light and portable with a very solid feeling keyboard – not quite an ultrabook but pretty close.  I have had it for about a day now and it seems pretty good even though it doesn’t have highest end processor or the most ram – had to spend some time figuring out Windows 8 and tweaking it to act how I would prefer but it seems pretty good now.  I am typing this post on it and so far I like the keyboard and the size of the display.

Still need to look at the treadmill – there seems to be a bit of a sag in the middle of the deck near the front of the machine and I am concerned that it might be a crack in the deck which would mean the end to the treadmill.  I will have to pop it open tonight to give it a look before the 20 mile run tomorrow – I should give it a cleaning and lube the deck anyway before the 20 mile run so I will do all that at the same time.  I will look at taking some pictures at the same time to maybe write up a bit of a how-to for treadmill maintenance.

I have also started on a bit of packing list for the Goofy and I will post that once I have it sorted.
