Running update for the past week
—
by
I haven’t done a site running post since the 23rd! I have run in that period and tweeted about the runs but haven’t put anything up here on the site. Time to rectify that! On the 24th (Christmas Eve), I did a late morning run of 6.37 miles – I had planned to do 10…

Dopey Challenge packing list / to take list posted #dopeychallenge

With about a week and a half to go before I get on a plane to Orlando for the 2015 Disney World Marathon and Dopey Challenge I figured I should review what I need to take with me! If I need to rush out and buy anything it would be good to do that now…

5 miles tonight in 38:58 on the treadmill – legs are feeling good after the long run on the weekend!
—
by
A clean and solid 5 miles tonight – I tried a bit of speed up to 8.4 mph but really didn’t do a speed workout. Just kept trying little speed bursts to test out the legs. Feeling good! I wasn’t sure what the legs would feel like today after the long runs on the weekend…

19.25 miles in 3:15:21 outside on a solstice morning – a slow run but last Dopey Challenge dry run is done! Am I ready?

by
Hey, looks like my 500th post on the site too. Plan today was 20 miles but didn’t quite make it. I had some g.i. issues plus couldn’t get any real traction due to fresh snow sitting on top of some freezing rain overnight – so ran a fair bit slower than I had hoped. With…

10 miles outside this morning in 1:38:23 – went very slow and easy due to ice. Did push the last mile faster though.

Woke up this morning to see that there had been ice mist over night and freezing drizzle. Lovely… So decided to take it easy and did the planned miles today slowly and carefully. It did seem to drag on a bit because I wanted to push faster but all things considered it was probably the…

5 miles in 38:19 – nice treadmill run – knee felt strong – heading into last dry run for Dopey Challenge!
—
by
Starting in on the last Dopey Challenge 2015 dry run weekend! I got home from work a bit early today so I managed to get this run in before supper. It was a nice change – had lots more energy compared to the runs I don’t manage to start until after the kids are in…

5 miles tonight in 39:11 – clean run included 16 minutes at 8 mph – felt good to push a bit!

At this time in 3 weeks I will be hitting the sack in Disney World, hoping to get some sleep before the first race of the Dopey Challenge! Getting exciting now! I started out tonight at 7.2 mph on the treadmill and did that for 5 minutes but then got bored so I bumped it up…

5 miles on the treadmill tonight – taking it easy and nursing the knee I tweaked a bit in the slush on Saturday
—
by
After slightly tweaking my knee on Saturday in the slushy snow, I ended up skipping a planned 18 miler yesterday. It was not a decision I made lightly and there were 2 main factors in play: my knee was aching a bit when I woke up – I could have run on it but 18…

7.63 miles outside – great weather but very sloppy roads and trails – had to stop early as my knee was aggravated
—
by
Unfortunately I had to cut short my run this morning – the weather was great – right around the freezing mark with little to no wind. It felt great out there. Unfortunately that also meant that the roads, sidewalks and paths I run on were not in great shape. There was a lot of slushy…

Steady 7 miles in 59:48 on the treadmill – just a nice steady run to keep pushing toward the Dopey Challenge
—
by
No drama tonight – got on the treadmill and set it at 7 mph and just kept going. At about 55 minutes I bumped the speed just a touch to make sure I hit under an hour for the 7 miles for tonight. I’m in my second last high mileage week for Dopey Challenge training…
