I had a late start tonight due to our son’s music lessons and I was tempted to move the run off until tomorrow but in the end I figured it was best to get it in today. That way I would have more time to relax in the pool with the kids and resist the taper crazies tomorrow night after work.
I knew I wanted to run tonight at an safe but strong pace that wouldn’t risk injury but also wouldn’t drive me crazy wanting to go faster…
So as a compromise pace I started at 7.2 mph and then every 5 minutes I bumped my speed up by 0.1 mph until I was at the 7.7 mph mark for the 25-30 minute period. At 30 minutes I bumped the speed up to 8 mph and finished out the 4 miles at that pace. No walking and I felt great throughout.
Very happy with the run tonight. Only a 2 mile leg stretch on Saturday to go before the Manitoba Marathon. I should get emailed my bib number tomorrow and will hit the race expo Friday afternoon with the kids (who happen to be off school Friday)…so now it is about waiting…
