Check in after run every day until end of August challenge – how did it go?

Today I want to come in with a quick, late review of my run every day until the end of August challenge that I set myself on back in July. The first run of the challenge was July 16th and the last on was August 31st.

I made it through the challenge mostly intact and definitely learned a few things about where I am running wise and about whether daily running challenges are for me or not! I did get a minimum of a mile in every day as required – some days were definitely harder than others but it got done!!

Quickest thing I learned – daily running challenges / streaks are not for me. I need flexibility and while the daily challenge forced me to get running again and get off my butt, I also started to resent having to do the running when I had other things that needed to be done. And that really became a bit of a hassle near the end of August as the kids were getting ready to get back to school and things got hectic!

But the upside of that is that I was still able to find time to shove in the running so doing a 5 day a week training program for the Dopey Challenge in January should be doable!

The daily running also made me face the fact that I am not the runner I used to be, that’s ok but if I want to be anywhere near where I used to be…I need to be focused!

Next steps? My 18 week training program for the Dopey Challenge starts tomorrow – first run should be 4 miles but I will be doing another post / video about that soon.

I will be looking to doing weekly videos for the training and hopefully that will be more consistent as well through the fall and winter months!
