237 when woke up – 234 after run.
A day of disappointment all around.
Regressed a little on the weight – probably due to eating out yesterday afternoon and then having a steak supper last night. It should balance itself back out but still disappointing.
I did the run outside – was supposed to do 12 miles but only did 11 in the end instead. Took 2 hrs and 12 minutes to do the run. Road was very greasy with loose snow and gravel and I ran very slow the whole time. It wasn’t horribly cold (maybe -10C with the windchill?) but it is obvious now that the running clothes I have for outdoor running in the winter are not cutting it. When I took my toque off it was crispy with frost and ice – obviously not a good thing on a longer run. I will have to sort this out but considering I am going into the last tough week I might not resolve the outdoor running issues in the cold weather until I get back from the Goofy.
I was very disappointed in the time for the run but felt really good once I warmed up at home – so being cold and wet is just taking it out of me on the run and I am recovering quickly once I get warm.
Had no fuel besides a little water on the run so that is positive – I definitely have energy stores in the muscles again so that is nice to know as the event is getting closer.
So sat down to think about the run and the weight and write up my thoughts ….and somehow managed to break the blog site – took around 5 hours to get cleaned up but it is mostly back up to speed now – I just need to clean up the tagging now. This was disappointing as I hoped to spend time today sorting out other things for the site instead of recreating it but a lesson was learned and I shall not repeat it. Now that things are back to normal I can get back to putting in content and deciding what else to do with the blog.
I will probably be shortly writing a post about the equipment I will be using on the run and the various tools and things I have tried in the past few months and giving my opinion on how they worked for me. I will also talk about some of the injuries I have had in the past few months, how I have worked through them and how things look health wise as we get close to the tapering period for the Challenge.
