233 when woke up – close to -30 C with the windchill so ran inside on the treadmill since I knew this was going to be close to a 4 hour run today.  I want to lose weight but not by freezing various limbs off.

230.5 after the 20 mile run – total running time on the treadmill was 3 hrs 36.25 min over a total of 4 hours (couple of breaks and the treadmill tripped off its breaker a few times).

Fuel on the run was about a dozen spearmint leave candies (spread out over the course of the run) and a banana after about 13 miles.  Also drank about a litre of water and the equivalent of about 2 cans of Coke.  Before running I had some peanuts, a banana and a protein shake.  Did not eat enough before the run but seemed to be ok during the run as long as I spaced out the spearmint leaves every 20-30 minutes or so.

Treadmill was definitely having some issues which slowed things down and caused me to run a little funny – my right knee did not like it but it seems to have recovered all things considered.

I was feeling well enough to go get some Christmas shopping done and was able to handle wandering around fairly well – so I think I am ready to go but I am not so sure that the 4.5 hour goal for the full is likely to occur.  I think I can pull off the 2 hrs 10 min for the half but the 4.5 for the full the next day seems in jeopardy – not much I can do about it now except keep up the training intensity during the taper period and watch my weight.  I will be trying to get the weight pushed down a few more pounds and try to get the upcoming runs done at a strong pace.

Hopefully the treadmill can handle the remaining runs.  I avoided pulling it apart yesterday because I was worried the deck might be cracked and if it was it would likely mean that I wouldn’t get the 20 mile run in today that I needed to.  I mentally and physically needed this run so I didn’t want to risk the run not happening.  So now that the run has finished I will be taking a look at the treadmill to see what kind of shape it is in.  My wife has been using the treadmill as well so I want to give it a once over to clean it up and make sure it is working for her as well.
