8.85 miles in 1:19 outside this morning. Testing my limits after a few weeks of illness. Feeling a bit slow but much better.

Lovely sunshine out there this morning even though it was a bit cool. I wasn’t sure how the run would go today but I was feeling healthier and wanted to get outside for a bit.

In the end it was a pretty solid run. I did 2 laps around the neighborhood and felt good the whole time – pacing was solid and the 2 laps took very close to the same time to complete. Finished feeling like I could have kept going but wanted to be smart and make sure I didn’t cause myself any grief. 8.85 miles in 1:19 even.

This morning I have lost almost the whole chunk of weight I gained rapidly earlier in the month when I was sick. Gained 14 pounds in about 10 days and have lost 12 of that in 7. I still had some headaches yesterday but those seemed to be more sinus issues and not related to the illness. With the solid run today I think I have definitely turned the corner and gotten healthy again – it is going to get some time to get the confidence back as well as some of the endurance I lost.

I am going to have to really pay attention to my running over the next 2 weeks as I have a half marathon on May 3rd (2 weeks tomorrow) that I want to be healthy for. I had wanted to PR this one but I would say that is solidly off the table now. Under 2 hours should be quite possible and maybe under 1:50 if my endurance recovers quickly but a lot depends on what happens over the next 2 weeks.

But, either way, it is good to be back!
