2 mile leg stretching / nerve settling run in 16:02 – Manitoba Marathon tomorrow! I am ready!

by

Just got a quick run in on the treadmill to work out some of the taper kinks (both in my legs and in my head). I am ready for the run and I fully expect my full marathon PR of 4:15:01 to fall. I’m not trying to be cocky but I was ready to just eke out a new PR back at the Goofy Challenge in January but made some mistakes and missed it, and now I am in much stronger shape. Everything says it should happen.

Now stuff happens of course and it is up to me to make sure I don’t do anything silly today that will have major impacts tomorrow – so I have eat properly, hydrate in a smart way and be careful what physical activity I do and how I do it.

So, if I am smart (and relatively cautious) today then the new PR should be on the table tomorrow, but weather could play a factor as well – it will be cool and rainy the whole race. On the positive side that means I shouldn’t overheat (always a major concern for someone my size running a marathon) but it could mean that I get cold and stiff at the start line and have trouble getting moving and throwing off my rhythm. It could also mean lots of slippery areas of the course that I will have to be cautious of and puddles that I will have to go around costing time.

Lots of factors in play! Over 735 training miles since the Goofy Challenge finished in January and it all comes down to tomorrow!

oooh boy – going to be twitchy today just thinking about it…
